Guided Trips - Rates and Info

Please use the contact form at the bottom of the page to set up your trip!

Please be advised that all trips are catch and release for fish over 10 pounds.  This both helps the fishery and us anglers because it leaves more big fish to be caught.  All the fish you see on this site were returned to the water unharmed (except for a sore lip) within 5 minutes of being caught.

I offer two types of trips - fishing and tours or check rides.

A fishing trip with me is a full service trip. I provide the boat, tackle, bait, and any other fishing gear you need.  Heck, I'll even take you to my best spots.  My job is to put you on the biggest fish I can.

My specialty is night fishing the river.  It's cooler and I think the bite's better.  That being said I'm glad to take you out about any hours you can think of.

Tours or check rides are just what they sound like - a trip with an experienced river boater (me) to get some navigation tips, a feel for the river, or just a different view of the river or the Kansas City area.

Hours and Rates

Day trips are 8 hours from when we get lines in the water and night trips can be as long as 10 hours - late evening til early morning.

Standard rates are $125 per person per trip (2 person maximum) - if you want a shorter trip we may be able to work out different rates depending on the times.

Check rides or tours are a flat $35 per hour for up to three people.  Price is per hour, not per person.

Kids under 14 are free on fishing trips.  No children under 7, please.  Kids do count in your total though - I only take out two people on fishing trips and 3 on tours/check rides and kids count in this total even though they go for free.

If your kids are like mine it's tough to get out of the driveway to go fishing without them.  I've found the easiest way around this is to just take them along - that's why kids fish for free.

Locations

I typically put in at Cooley Lake access near Missouri City but I am happy to put in at any ramp you choose between Kansas City and Lexington.  Putting in at either Riverfront Park or Kaw Point does cost an extra $20.  I'm sorry to have to ask that but with fuel prices the way they are I really can't afford not to.

Examples

Let's say you want to go fishing out of Riverfront Park in downtown KC with your son or daughter who's under 14 - cost of the trip would be $125 (1 adult) + $0 (Kid under 14 for free) + the $20 surcharge for putting in downtown = $145

You and a buddy want to go fishing out of Lexington from 7 PM till 6 AM - 2 adults at $125 each = $250

3 hour check ride with a buddy and his kid to see what it's like on the river before you put your boat on it?  2 adults + 1 kid (3 person maximum) at $35 an hour for a check ride = $105.

Guarantee

If I can't put you on fish during your trip I will provide an additional trip at a later date at no charge.  Fishing is called fishing and not catching for a reason - as much as I would like to be able to guarantee fish I simply can't. Even the best of us have bad days. The next best thing I can do in case the fish aren't cooperating during your trip is to take you out again on my dime and give it another shot.
